Hill’s Pet Nutrition has announced a voluntary and precautionary recall of some of its canned dog foods . This precautionary voluntary recall affects only canned dog foods. Dry dog foods and canned cat foods are not affected. The recall is due to the possibility of elevated vitamin D levels.
Please follow this link to information about the recall: https://www.hillspet.com/productlist
Please check your current cans to see if the product and date code match those listed in the recall. If they are included in the recall please discard any open cans and return unopened cans WHERE THEY WERE PURCHASED. Remember this recall is voluntary and precautionary. Discontinuation of further feeding of potentially tainted food should eliminate the risk of any potential problem.
If your dog is acting sick in any way please call us. An examination and blood test can help us determine if the problem could be related to the recalled diet. If your pet develops symptoms AND your food was purchased at River Cove Animal Hospital, then Hill’s Pet Nutrition will help pay for the necessary exam and laboratory testing.
Possible signs of vitamin D toxicity can include vomiting, loss of appetite, increased drinking and urinating, weight loss, and excess drooling.
Please contact us with any questions or concerns. Your pets health is always our priority.
